Building an Access Ramp

A few years ago my mother asked if I would build a hand rail so that she could climb the stairs more easily. Then Covid happened. Now she is 88.

I thought about a hand rail but there wasn’t any appropriate location to put it without some massive reconstruction of the deck. Considering her age and the fact that my kids are on strollers and wagons it seemed to make more sense to build an access ramp to accommodate everyone.

The deck where I decided to place the ramp sits only 10-12 inches off the ground so it should be a fairly simple design. Last weekend I drew something on a piece of paper and started the build.
